I was watching a crap program on a crap Murdoch owned TV channel (more irony), it was called Yamashito's treasure. Where a bunch of Yanks go looking for treasure in the Philipines, where General Yamashito allegedly hid all the looted gold and other treasure that they looted during WW2. Of course they never find any because it is long gone but they did give an historical account of what happened. This Japanese general was ordered to hide all the gold there so that the Yanks could not find it in Japan after the surrender but the Yanks and their cough Allies are not stupid, they knew it was being moved there and new US president (the one that dropped atom bombs on innocent civillians, not once but twice) Harry "Truman" or something ordered general Mccarthur to take the Philipines and find the gold. estimated then to be worth billions, now trillions.
According to historians though there is no record in congress or the Senate of any gold or treasure ever being returned to the US and they speculate that all that money may have went into a CIA 'slush fund?' hmmmmm
On a completely unrelated story, isn't it amazing that a small self imposed Country like Israel with a population less than here in Scotland can afford all those shiny F whatever jets and guided missile. Wow de ja vous!
