The blackmailed King needs three stooges at all time to keep his (blackmail) secrets safe. These stooges need to be totally trusted by the (blackmailed) King to keep his secrets or be an actual blackmailer who knows about his secrets anyway. Or in this case to be married to a blackmailer. The three stooges are the Prime Minister (obviously), the home secretary as he or she HAS to get briefed on everything by the Security Services and the Commissioner of the Metropolitan police, who HAS to know about ALL major crime in this Country.
The reason Braverman (or somethingish) gets to keep her job is because the blackmailed king would struggle to find yet another Stooge to entrust his secrets or to enforce the blackmailers will.
